INTERVIEW: SECRET TREEHOUSE

  1. Cru Cru Secret Treehouse, super nice to have the chance to chat with you! How did you get into music?

I guess music has always played a cru crucial part of our respective upbringings. The result of the five of us is what you hear in our music today. I can remember watching music shows and wishing to be on that stage. Seeing how the musicians, dripping with sweat, gave it everything and making the audience go crazy. The path the Secret Treehouse members took to get into music from listening, to actually playing is kind of diverse. Some of us started in school bands and evolved from there, and some of us I guess just picked up an instrument and decided to play!

2. Can you tell us a nostalgic memory of yours?

As mentioned we all have different backgrounds. We all have vivid memories of seeing music performed on TV or live. It could be a local band on stage in Norway or something big. I remember seeing the Freddy Mercury Tribute concert, way back. When the band Extreme did a part of Radio Ga Ga in their medley and the entire crowd at Wembley did the iconic hand-clap thing... WOW!!! Could anything be better than to share such a thing? Music brings people together.

3. What’s your favorite color?

I think we are very different as individuals in the band, and that reflects in our colours. Anja is usually green on stage, so I think we'll go for that.

4 Will you tell us something embarassing about you?

I once forgot to put on underwear when we were visiting the school nurse in first grade...

5. What’s the mid decade for music?

If you mean what is the best decade for music? I think that is a hard question. Every decade has its own character. At least up until now... he he. In the seventies, and especially the eighties the music being made were subject to such a massive change in technology available, and music production became a thing. I kind of admire the "innocence" of the true song writing era of the sixties, but we all love music production, so... Then again, on gome the 90s with its anti-production aesthetic, and grunge was huge among some members of the band. (Some are too young though...)

6. What’s your favorite 2020’s album?

Wow! That is a hard question. I know this question would be heavily debated among the Secret Treehouse crew. But Taylor Swifts Folklore- album, Leprous - Aphelion, Japanese Breakfast - Jubilee and our local star Auroras - The Gods We Can Touch to mention just a few.

7.What’s the best experience you ever had while playing music?

With this band we have had many great experiences. Our first trip to England to perform. Or the time we travelled to Poland to record our first album The Big Rewind.

8. What music means to you?

Music is everything. It's comforting, It is terapeutic, It is a form of escapisme. It's pure fun!

9. Did you have a treehouse while growing up?

Unfortunately not, but I guess we all had places where we could "hide" when we needed to. A Secret Treehouse in a non concrete mammer.
