ARTIST INTERVIEW: ERIC COHEN

Interview

1. Hey Eric Cohen, super nice to have the chance to chat with you again!

It is a blessing to speak with you again as well. I appreciate the opportunity to sit down with ya!

2. What is "On the Edge"?

On The Edge is one of my new songs. It is about my own sufferings in life. More importantly, about te One who I was able to call out to... Jesus

3. Do you live on the edge?

I like this question. Definitely not in the way I used to. I lived on the outskirts of society before, doing things I knew I shouldnt be. Now, I live on the edge of my faith, walking in obedience to what my Holy Father directs me to do.

4. Would you recommend us to rap along with you?

The more the merrier. Come on through

5. What is the best hip - hop record of all time?

Tupac - All Eyez On Me

5,5. What's your favorite hip - hop record of all time?

Tupac -All Eyez On Me

6. How do you come up with this Christian influence on your music?

I am directed by the Holy Spirit. I sit down to write and the Holy Spirit flows whtough my pen. I come from a life of tragedy and suffering, this is much more than just words to me. This is my life

7. Which movie would you recommend me?

I suppose it depends on the mood. Possibly Pink Floyd The Wall, or Super Troopers, or perhaps Fireproof

8. What’s your favorite show on TV right now?

I don't spend a lot of time watching TV. If i were to choose one, it would be The Chosen

9. I'm intrigued. How did you come up with this image to represent your soulful single?

I actually send my song to a brother of mine by the name of Ryan Upton (uptown). He spends time to listen and designs as the Holy Spirit leads him to do so.

10. Do you still agree with the Pigeon?

I would like to say, Don't lose hope. This world is dark, there is much suffering and evil. But, there is joy and peace if you know where to look.

Review

The choir version of "On The Edge" totally wins me over with its fluid poetry and exceptional diction coming from Eric's mouth, supported by a luxurious production overflowing with refinement. You'll feel completely gripped by the words coming out of Cohen's mouth, especially when he mentions that his hands never stop shaking as he contemplates all the consequences of his sins. Definitely an inspiring banger that has the audacity to tackle complex themes such as suicide by tapping into the darkest, most depressive side of your mind.

The Pigeon added the new single to his Weekly Gems playlist on Spotify. You can check out the released music below. If you like what you hear, make sure to follow along so you can stay on top of future releases!
