OMENS - You've Got A Hold On

Are those diamonds in your eyes?

You put a spell on me, I'll never sleep tonight

There's danger dangling from your lips

And secret symbols shooting out your fingertips

I know you're crazy

But I like it

You’ve got a hold

You've got a hold on me

You twist the truth ’til I believe

It’s like I’m loaded, what a mangled web we weave

Ya got me thinkin’ more than ever

Something about now is feelin’ now or never

I know you're crazy

But I like it

You’ve got a hold

You've got a hold on me

This game is one I can’t win

You’re trouble and always have been

Let's go, the night is still young

I know you're crazy

But I like it

You’ve got a hold

You’ve got a hold on me

The Young Liars - Rêverie

After a 10-year hiatus, Jakarta-based indie band The Young Liars return with Rêverie, a self-produced song that combines a looping bassline, raw drum groove, and sharp, cinematic guitar riffs with vocals that feel emotional, agitated, and slightly disoriented, like someone trying to untangle a memory that won’t sit still.

This is the band’s first release since their debut album Rue Massena (2015), which followed a performance at the Midem Festival in Cannes. Rêverie reflects a more atmospheric and groove-led direction while keeping the band’s post-punk spirit intact.

With past recognition from Rolling Stone Indonesia and a long creative buildup behind this single, Rêverie marks the start of a bold new chapter for the band.

That Darn Racket - Overwhelmingly Positive

With themes revolving around the pandemic, relationships, reflection, and perseverance, "Overwhelmingly Positive" delves deep into the complexities of life in 2025. Tracks like the title song, "From A Mile Away," and "About Face" tackle issues like hidden resentment, emotional abuse, and false promises, resonating with listeners on a personal level. Recorded in an unspecified location, the album's unique production process, helmed by Patrick Coffin, transformed Peter Coffin's demos into polished gems that showcase the raw authenticity and human touch that sets That Darn Racket's music apart from artificial creations. As the world moves towards automation, That Darn Racket stands firm in their belief in the power of genuine human expression through music, shunning the artificial in favor of real, relatable artistry that speaks to the soul.

Nordstahl - Das Geisterschiff

In an era of quick fixes and instant gratification, "Das Geisterschiff" dares to explore what cannot be undone. This German-language maritime ballad transforms the timeless ghost ship legend into a visceral meditation on permanent consequences - a theme that resonates powerfully in our age of digital permanence and environmental irreversibility.

While countless artists mine nostalgia for comfort, this track ventures into darker waters. It's a rare piece that combines:

Authentic German-language artistry in a global music landscape

Maritime folklore reimagined for contemporary anxieties

Philosophical depth wrapped in accessible, haunting imagery

A bridge between traditional folk storytelling and modern existential themes

This isn't just another sad song - it's a complete narrative journey. The ghost ship becomes a metaphor for how we all carry our mistakes, drifting through life without the possibility of redemption. The bridge's stark declaration - "God is distant, the beast reigns here" - offers a provocative theological angle that sparks discussion.

"Das Geisterschiff" offers:

Rich visual imagery perfect for editorial interpretation

Cross-cultural appeal through universal themes in the German language

A fresh take on environmental and spiritual crisis through maritime metaphor

Discussion-worthy lyrics that invite deeper analysis

This release speaks to anyone who's ever felt trapped by their past - which is to say, everyone. It's dark without being nihilistic, poetic without being pretentious, and offers the kind of emotional catharsis your readers crave in meaningful music.
