Scared Little Toaster - NUDIBRANCH
"NUDIBRANCH" chronicles the sonic journey of the kidnapping into the black market of a disillusioned fashion model nudibranch (of tropical reef origin). This opportunistic nudibranch eventually escapes to find freedom and solace on a Holiday Inn breakfast platter beside stale toast.
Interview with Scared Little Toaster
What inspired the wild concept behind NUDIBRANCH?
Numerous trips to a garden centre in West London with a sealife section. The experience prompted the questions: Did they (the aquatic creatures) ever wish to be there? Are they content with their existence? What previous lives did they live? How did they end up there? Do they have dreams of freedom and liberation?
How did a fashion model nudibranch end up on a Holiday Inn breakfast platter?
By utilising antiquated Roman waterworks as a means of escape from its captivity.
Why do you incorporate domestic appliances like a toaster into your music?
Because we're hungry and don't have air conditioning.
How would you describe your sound to someone hearing you for the first time?
Intense, hypnotic and unpredictable.
What's it like performing as just a bass and drums duo?
Much easier to book rehearsals. Also makes drinking good coffee a smoother experience, if you know what I mean...?
How did it feel to be described by John Kennedy of Radio X as “a welcome breath of fresh air”?
Indubitably nice.
What can fans expect from your upcoming support show with Yowie?
A lot of maths and equations in the form of riffs.
How do jazz influences blend with your noise rock and punk roots?
They add, what some could say, slightly prettier moments, followed by free time and looseness.
What do you hope listeners take away from NUDIBRANCH's chaotic story?
Do something nice for an hour a day, even if that's just looking at nudibranchs for a solid hour.
How do you plan to grow your fanbase within the experimental rock community?
By purchasing more toasters and making toast for the populous.
