Zphr turn a repeated confession into something bruised and hard to shake

“Still” is a 2024 single by zphr, inside the Houston project’s Components collection across electronic, metal, rock, alternative hip-hop/rap, experimental, punk, and pop

I hear “Still” as a song built on emotional afterimage. The lyric is sparsed “dry for so long,” “tears in your eyes,” and the refrain “I still dream of you” loop like a thought that refuses to leave the room, and that repetition gives the track its ache.

What interests me most is the way Zphr make restraint feel loaded. The song keeps circling the same wound until it starts to feel universal. For me, that is where the record’s strength lives, in the push and pull between confession and control."Still" is a refusal to settle into one lane, and I see that as a creative advantage for zphr. As a first encounter with Zphr, “Still” feels concise but haunted, like a held breath. It leaves a faint sting in the best way possible.
