Worms in Dirt Coil Horror and Heat Into Something Uneasy and Human

The Seattle trio sharpen their folk-punk instincts without sanding off the splinters. “Ford Explorer” and “My Body is Falling Apart at the Black Lodge” feel like the work of a band learning how to stretch the frame without losing the pressure

I hear Worms in Dirt as a band that knows exactly how much damage a short song can do. Seattle-based trio making short, energetic bursts of lyrically dense indie folk/punk, and that still holds on the May 22, 2026 single "Ford Explorer", a 3:06 track issued with “Fresh Bay Water.” The forthcoming I Almost Touched a Fish is due July 10, 2026, and I can't wait to hear the arrangements leaning even harder into honesty and intention.

That widening is what I respond to most. The music still has DIY grit, but now feels staged with more purpose. the dread register as shape on “My Body is Falling Apart at the Black Lodge”. For me, Worms in Dirt are at their very best when the writing stays vivid and the playing stays slightly frayed at the edges, and these songs do exactly that. They feel like road dust, nervous laughter, and a sharpened emotional radius all at once.
