I hear A La Mode as Silverware making a more deliberate case for what they do best. Dreamy indie rock band built on FX-driven soundscapes, thoughtful lyric writing, and a driving rhythm section, for me, the addition of synth has clearly helped tilt them toward richer color and softer edges.

What stands out the most is the balance. The title track, "A La Mode", is short enough to feel immediate, while “Halley’s Comet,” “Lavender,” and “Waiting” give the EP room to breathe and let melody do the heavy lifting. I also like how the record feels like a coherent next chapter. It is the first public glimpse of To Whom It May Concern, and that larger arc gives these songs extra weight. Silverware sound more organized, more textural, and more sure-footed here. A band learning how to make dreaminess land as something tangible.
