The Portland art-rock project’s latest EP turns a cosmic love story into a controlled, cinematic surge. After Simulated Sky and The Rise: Second Cycle, this four-track release feels like a tightening of the entire Reign Cycle universe.

I hear The Radiance: Crowned as Reign Cycle’s most deliberate piece of world-building yet. The EP arrived in December 2025 as a four-song, 22-minute release, and its centerpiece is the 11:11 title track, split on into “Prologue,” “Cut,” and “Epilogue,” which tells me the band is thinking in suites..

What keeps me engaged is how that ambition still feels human. Moving through a narrative of lovers, empire, and a “Second Cycle,” I hear that tension between grand design and emotional fallout in the way the EP unfolds. The Radiance: Crowned sounds broader and more assured, like a group trusting repetition, contrast, and scale to do the dramatic heavy lifting. For me, that makes the record feel expansive and earned.
