When I first hit play on Keddies Resort’s single "Modern Man," I was instantly floored by how much visceral electricity the Portland trio crams into a mere 77 seconds. Released via Surgical Records, this explosive track acts as a pivotal surge in the band’s ongoing narrative saga of an alienated worker embarking on a vengeful cross-country plot.

Keddie Smith refines raw basement-show chaos into laser-focused power-punk perfection! To my ears, "Modern Man" hits with the structural punch of early Ramones combined with Billy Corgan-esque wall-of-sound guitar tracking. Smith’s vocals pivot effortlessly between desperate, melodic hooks and unhinged garage snarls, anchored by temple-throbbing basslines and a kinetic rhythm section that never lets up! The standout moment arrives around the 45-second mark, where a blistering guitar break transitions directly into a choir of distorted harmonies before violently collapsing into feedback.

For me, it’s a brilliant, hyper-condensed masterpiece of modern punk agitation that demands to be played on repeat!
