The #506 edition of Pigeon Spins Rock is here! The list features artists Johan Hoffman, Wattmore, Jeremy Ryan, Miek Vorpal, and More!

Johan Hoffman - Day One

Stockholm-based singer-songwriter Johan Hoffman has released the first single from his upcoming fourth album, Day One. The track with the same name sets the tone for the album's poetic and stripped-down approach to storytelling. Built on electric guitar, voice, and subtle Moog textures, Day One is an intimate meditation on letting go of the past and stepping into a truer self. Hoffman's haunting vocal delivery and minimalist production style reflect his roots in both music and theatre, evoking comparisons to artists like Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, and Father John Misty. "I found the riff while playing around on my guitar," says Hoffman. "It felt like a beginning. The first line came later: 'When you leave last night behind, say goodbye.' From that moment the song wrote itself." Recorded between Hoffman's apartment in Stockholm and a studio at STIM, Day One was mixed and mastered with an intention to preserve its live, unfiltered energy. The full album is expected this October.

Wattmore - Romantic Side

Formed in Brisbane by autistic brothers Aiden and Kai, Wattmore is raw, real, and gloriously genre-fluid. With influences from Oasis to Waylon Jennings, their music lands somewhere between a bar fight and a confession — gritty, loud, and too honest for polite company.

Brisbane cowpunk misfits Wattmore are back with “Romantic Side” — a razor-sharp, tongue-in-cheek anthem that’s as country as it is punk. Following the success of their debut single “Circus Life” — which carved out radio play across Australia and earned praise from both country insiders and the alt-rock/Americana press — brothers Aiden and Kai return with something even bolder. “Romantic Side” takes a swipe at modern dating culture with sharp wit, twangy hooks, and unapologetic attitude. Written by the Boak brothers alongside iconic Australian songwriter Allan Caswell, the song blends classic country storytelling with a punk snarl that’s fast becoming Wattmore’s signature.

As Caswell says:

“Wattmore runs on energy and a refusal to accept the things that irritate them — like bigotry, stupidity and bullying. They’re not afraid to take on any subject, any style… as long as it’s cool and, above all, entertaining.”

Jeremy Ryan - My Fairytale

'Going through a hard time in my life, and on that particular day everything hit me all at once. I

found myself at a crossroad in my life with the world and & my past weighing heavy on me'

Mike Vorpal - Memes EP

Mike Vorpal, known for his evocative songwriting and immersive soundscapes, has officially released his debut solo EP, Memes. This six-track collection is a bold fusion of dark wave aesthetics and guitar-driven intensity, offering listeners a deeply introspective yet electrifying experience.

With Memes, Mike Vorpal crafts a sonic narrative that reflects the absurdity and emotional weight of the digital age. Tracks like "Manhunter" and “House of Capricorn" along with "Overboard”

showcase his ability to blend haunting melodies with raw, unfiltered lyricism, creating a sound that resonates with both nostalgia and modern existentialism. "I really wanted to make something that feels both immediate and timeless… so that it stays with you after the music stops.

'For me, Memes is kind of a reflection of the way we process reality through fragmented, fleeting moments…'
