TRANSGALACTICA - Danse Macabre

Danse Macabre was inspired by the work by Camil Saint-Saëns under the same title (THEY nicked the melody), which ultimately is a quick waltz, and they added a more ominous accusatory chorus. The bridge takes the melody from Bach's Christmas Oratorio.

It is one of their pieces strongly showing our predilection for classical music, as it doesn't feature any rock instruments, unless you count the synthesisers and various strange rumblings.

In the lyrics they list some of the logical errors and bad thinking habits discussed by Steven Pinker, which make people blind to progress and therefore seeing the present far too pessimistically. All in all, this sends a rather strange message to listeners. They are telling usthat if we look at the world from the right perspective, we will see that we are much happier than we think.

In fact, studies show that there is a huge discrepancy between the answers to the question of how you are doing – most people say quite well – and the question of where the world is heading – most people say "too hell".

Johan Hoffman - Day One

Stockholm-based artist Johan Hoffman releases Day One, a raw poetic album of ten songs exploring identity, memory, and transformation. Recorded live with just Stratocaster, Supro tube amp, voice, and occasional bass guitarr or subtle Moog, the album strips music to its essence; fragile, hypnotic, and ritual-like.

From the driving energy of Manifest and Day One to the nocturnal haunt of Hour of the Wolf and the meditative calm of Waves, Hoffman crafts songs that feel alive and intimate, echoing Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, and Father John Misty.

Praised as “soul-stirring and cinematic” (Foxfire), “poetic and hypnotic” (Zillions), “original, engaging and memorable all at once” (Plastic Magazine), and “a minimalist journey of rebirth and reflection” (Music Earshot), Day One marks a new chapter for an artist working between music, theatre, and film.
