Interview with Tzu Xander

(•)> What inspired Daddy’s Girl and how does it reflect your relationship with your daughter?

More recently my songs are inspired and written in the moment. This was one of those. My higher self in comms with our maker. Message was, Write a tune that sums up my connection with my girl but relates to all Daddy’s and their girls!

(•)> How does this EP serve as a culmination of your musical evolution across decades?

This 5 song EP BIG SWEETIE with Daddy’s Girls on it came together like a bit of an exclamation mark to the 2 Albums I’d previously completed. Tao of Light and Tao of Light vol.2

(•)> Your influences range from Don McLean to Coldplay. How do you integrate these classic and modern sounds into your work?

I don’t look to copy or use a sound from another artist or band, the styles of So many artists inspire me and compel me to produce my own music based on years of living life my own unique way.

(•)> How do you approach writing songs that resonate across generations, especially with themes of family and connection?

Reincarnation is a real thing, my other song that involves my daughter also crosses over lifetimes as in the song LYFE X off Tao of Light Vol.2. It’s a song about inter generational ties and soul family relationships.

(•)> What was the most emotionally challenging song to create on this EP, and why?

LOVE as I was being guided and inspired to write a love song but not just another one about heart break or Being in love, but a love song about the very Love that builds worlds that creates universes while also creating all of us! A Love song that speaks to the divine space between the space, where EVERYTHING is created in this world!

(•)> How has your perspective on songwriting changed from your earlier albums like TAO OF LIGHT to Daddy’s Girl?

The Tao of Light songs were written over a 28 year period while the EP Daddy’s Girl was all inspired within a couple of months in early 2025. Writing comes in different moments of inspiration these days compared to days gone by. My music has become my greatest medicine!

(•)> How do you balance personal storytelling with universal themes that listeners can relate to?

It works out I discovered I write my songs for my own personal medicine and if others are drawn to them then that’s just a wonderful bonus..

(•)> What role does your Australian heritage play in your musical identity and songwriting?

I grew up in a Navy family so I lived all over the world as many years as I’ve lived in Australia. I love my Australian roots, but I’m a nomadic soul with a global backyard as my home!

(•)> How do you hope fathers, daughters, and listeners in general respond emotionally to this EP?

A few Dads have shed a tear or two already as I do most times I hear the tune! It’s really cool when someone has their own personal emotions and experiences emerge out of my song(s).

(•)> Looking forward, how will Daddy’s Girl influence your future songwriting and projects?

I have specific plans for a fully immersive experiential concert in a venue like the Sphere Vegas. A form of spiritual invocation that switches all the greatest feelings, emotions and a greater KNOWING of themselves.
