Lyrics
VERSE 1
I fell asleep with all the things I had in mind
That’d make today
Mean a lot, won’t fake or try
We move as fast as storms allow
CHORUS
Walking alone inside a summer dream
Visions above explaining everything
That don’t make sense when I’m awake
We grab at the sky while falling into graves
VERSE 2
I fell asleep, feeling wrong; uneasy
Like a brush with death
A cigarette, burning out
We move as fast as storms allow
CHORUS
BRIDGE
I don’t want to leave this place,
But I don’t know where to go
People smile when they walk by
But it don’t feel like home
Trees breathe life inside our veins,
Yet troubles grow like roots
Though daylight brings us out again,
We only show what we choose
CHORUS
Interview with Scott's Tees

(•)> What was the inspiration behind “We Move As Fast As Storms Allow,” and how did the idea come to you?
The inspiration behind the song was the idea that sometimes our dreams could guide us in ways our waking consciousness couldn’t. The idea came to me as I needed to find something that would reflect the dreamy mood of the chorus guitars.
(•)> How did recording in a bedroom with a Tascam recorder and Audacity shape the song’s lo-fi sound?
I’m not very familiar with DAWS yet, which is why I used those tools. Having a simple setup allows for a less refined sound that I sometimes prefer.
(•)> The harmonies in the chorus are striking, how did you approach layering and arranging them?
I approached layering and arranging the harmonies by experimenting with different vocal lines that I thought would fit. I wanted them to pop in contrast to the single vocal line leading up to it. I then made sure they were given proper distance and panning, along with some subtle effects.
(•)> How do your influences from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Iron & Wine come together in your sound?
Pearl Jam have influenced my guitar playing and riffs, Soundgarden’s psychedelic sound inspires me to explore unconventional song structures, and I sometimes try to emulate the hushed-vocals and low-fi sound of Iron and Wine.
(•)> What emotions or themes were you hoping to capture through this dream-inspired track?
The feeling that sometimes, when life feels listless or disconnected, sleeping can be a refuge that is not only restful but informative.

(•)> How has working as a solo artist impacted your creative process and songwriting direction?
Working as a solo artist has allowed me to explore ideas without having to worry about whether or not bandmates like or dislike them. It gives me the time to take on projects the way I like to, although working with others is equally valuable for different reasons.
(•)> What does “We Move As Fast As Storms Allow” symbolize for you personally?
On top of listening to my dreams, it also symbolizes that when we want to move away from something, there might still be something stopping us - like a storm, or some other sort of roadblock.
(•)> Are there any lessons or discoveries you made during this home-recording process that will shape future projects?
For sure, I learned a lot about mic placement when recording acoustic guitar. I also learned that experimenting with harmonies can be very rewarding.
(•)> How do you see your sound evolving as you move toward a more polished production style?
I will need to learn to use a DAW, take mixing and mastering courses, consult with pros and spend some money on having someone master something for me.
(•)> What can listeners look forward to next from Scott’s Tees?
A continued output of introspective, harmony-laden alternative rock/folk.
