Hellkern Warriors - Helkern Warriors

Hellkern Warriors is an international Darkwave / Gothic Rock project founded in 2025. The band unites musicians from Italy, Germany, and Colombia, merging analog synths, shadowy guitar lines, and driving rhythms into a cinematic and darkly atmospheric sound — both intimate and powerful.

Please note: Hellkern Warriors = band name; Helkern Warriors = song title

What inspired the creation of Hellkern Warriors, and how did the idea for “The Pulse of the Void” concept come about?

Hellkern Warriors grew out of a shared desire to create music that feels cinematic, dark, and emotionally intense — something that goes beyond traditional genre boundaries. The initial spark came when my guitar demos for Helkern Warriors and Endless Road connected with Kabal, Fabian, and Mauricio’s vision of blending atmosphere, power, and storytelling.

The concept of “The Pulse of the Void” represents the tension between isolation and connection — the heartbeat you still feel in the emptiness of modern life. It reflects our fascination with dark landscapes and the idea that even in the void there is energy, emotion, and motion waiting to be expressed through sound.

How do you merge influences from Darkwave, Gothic Rock, and electronic textures to create the band’s cinematic and atmospheric sound?

Our approach is about layering contrasts. The foundation often comes from guitars and my vocals — raw, emotional, and physical — while darkwave synths and electronic textures add depth and distance.

Gothic rock contributes melody and melancholic drama, while electronic elements shape the atmosphere and sense of scale. We consciously avoid separating “rock” and “electronic” thinking — instead, we treat everything as part of one cinematic composition where riffs, synths, and rhythms serve the same emotional narrative.

Can you describe the collaborative process between Tom Radar, Kabal, Mauricio, and Fabian in shaping your songs and overall soundscape?

Most songs start with guitar and vocal ideas, followed by basslines and basic drum sketches to give the other members a rough sense of the atmosphere. From there, everything becomes a dialogue:

  • Mauricio locks in the rhythmic pulse, giving the songs their breathing motion,

  • Fabian expands the harmonic and melodic bass layers,

  • Tom then plays the guitars and delivers the vocals,

  • Finally, Kabal adds multiple electronic textures and atmospheres, transforming the track into a fully cinematic sonic world.

Because we work internationally, much of the collaboration happens remotely — sharing demos, refining arrangements, and shaping each song step by step until it becomes a fully realized world of sound.

How does the name Hellkern Warriors reflect your artistic vision and the themes explored in your music?

The name captures both darkness and resilience. Hellkern, inspired by the infamous digital virus, symbolizes hidden forces moving beneath the surface — strength, transformation, and energy.

Warriors represents resistance: standing upright in a fractured world, confronting emotional and existential battles. Together, the name reflects our core themes — decay and creation, shadow and light, struggle and resilience.

ree

How did the members’ diverse musical backgrounds, from RADARFIELD to Gothic Metal and Colombian extreme metal, inform the project?

Our different backgrounds are one of our strongest assets. Tom (Radarfield) brings cinematic darkwave sensibility and emotional storytelling, Kabal’s roots in gothic and industrial music provide atmosphere and ritualistic intensity, while Fabian and Mauricio contribute technical precision and power shaped by Colombian extreme metal scenes. This mixture allows us to combine precision, aggression, melancholy, and cinematic emotion into a single musical identity.

ree

How do you approach combining analog synths, shadowy guitar lines, and pulsating rhythms to create hypnotic and immersive tracks?

We focus on sound, movement, and space. Guitars and lyrics often carry the emotional narrative, while Kabal’s synths create an evolving environment around them — not just background pads, but living textures that breathe and shift.

Bass and drums provide the foundational pulse: Fabian’s bass anchors the harmonic depth, while Mauricio’s drums drive the rhythm and hypnotic momentum. Pulsating grooves connect all layers, drawing the listener into the track.

The goal is full immersion: listeners should feel pulled into the music rather than just hearing it — like stepping into a slowly unfolding dream.

ree

Can you discuss the role of storytelling and concept in your singles, such as Helkern Warriors and Petrol & Water?

Exploring complex or unconventional themes through storytelling is central to our music. Helkern Warriors tells a tale of confrontation — facing the challenges and risks of the digital age. Petrol & Water explores industrial decay, emotional conflict, and the consequences of human ambition, painting a dystopian landscape through both sound and lyrics.

Our songs are not just standalone tracks — they are chapters in a larger narrative universe, each exploring themes that resonate and connect throughout the Hellkern Warriors world.

ree

How has your international lineup influenced your creative process and musical identity?

Our international lineup brings cultural diversity and different perspectives into the music. With the six-hour time difference between Colombia and Germany/Italy, communication is often asynchronous — when Mauricio writes in Colombia at 10 PM, Tom in Germany already has to be up at 4 AM to keep the creative exchange flowing. This requires patience, clear coordination, and trust in each other’s instincts.

The result is a sound that doesn’t belong to any single scene or country — it’s global, collaborative, and shaped by a mix of emotional, musical, and cultural influences.

ree

How do you balance technical mastery, emotional depth, and dark aesthetics in your compositions?

We treat technical skill as a tool — not the goal. The real priority is emotional impact. Once the emotional core of a song is clear, the technique serves to enhance it, not overshadow it. Dark aesthetics provide the visual and sonic atmosphere, while emotional authenticity keeps the music human and relatable.

ree

Looking ahead, what themes or sonic directions are you excited to explore in Hellkern Warriors’ future releases?

Looking ahead, we want to explore deeper contrasts — heavier and darker soundscapes alongside more introspective, atmospheric moments. The upcoming singles, Endless Road and Rain, Steam and Speed, already point in that direction: more cinematic breadth, stronger emotional storytelling, and an even richer fusion between guitars and electronic textures.

Rain, Steam and Speed will have a slightly more powerful sound, while we also plan to create a quieter track to showcase the full range of our band. The future of Hellkern Warriors is about expanding our sonic universe while remaining true to its emotional core.
