Interview with CS069

What inspired your latest tracks and their themes?
- I was experimenting on how to make realistic-sounding metal/rock tracks and the theme of being so small compared to the universe entered my mind. That is basically the seed that gave birth to "Smaller than the Sun."
How does recording at home shape your creative process?
- I sit in my favourite chair or couch, with a cup of coffee. I can think of a chorus thats sounds cool and then pair that with the correct sound or instrumental. It's a very relaxing and creative environment to work from
How do you approach perfecting each element of a song?
- This is tricky, the tools on offer (at least to me) work with some randomness. However the more detailed the prompt you can give the closer you will get but it is very rare to get want you want the first try but the fun part is that sometimes you get something even better than you imagined.
What role does AI play in your music creation?
- Obviously a big part, I come up with the theme or story and usually the chorus. AI helps me with better wording and with the Instrumentals and Vocals. I am more the Producer you could say who designs the track and the AI "performs" it.
How do you balance technology with emotional depth in your songs?
- This has more to do with how I structure the lyrics and how real the AI makes it sound. I have made tracks that have made me tear up once I have heard them back. So I feel as long as it feels and sounds real there is emotion to be found.
What challenges have you faced as a studio-only artist?
- No challenges as of yet :) I like creating my tracks and I wish others could hear them too. I am not out to take anybody's job or gigs, just to make music in my own way.
How do you envision your music connecting with listeners?
- This goes back to the realism aspect. I feel my tracks are grounded in reality, that they sound like it's a real band. So I feel anybody who likes a certain style of music can connect easily with my songs.
Are there plans for live performances in the future?
- No. If for some reason in the far future people want me to do a David Guetta, in other words stand on stage and press buttons on a DAW so ok, I will do it. I know my place, it is not on a stage.
How do you define the “proper track worthy of release”?
- Excellent question, this is a part of the human side of this kind of AI-created music. The computer can push out tracks, but only the human can hear what is good and what is bad. I feel this is a "talent" of sorts when you can go from a vision to maybe 10-20 songs and pick out the one that is a clear standout and something others will also listen to.
Looking ahead, what directions or experiments excite you most in your music?
- Well, as I am not in a band, I do have free rein to do whatever music I please. However I try to stay in my own genre because I get the best tracks if I stay in my "comfort zone". I have experimented with creating hip hop, nu metal, black metal etc. With these tools it is only you yourself who sets the limit on what you can create.
