What inspired “A New Year’s Wish,” and why a pop-rock holiday anthem instead of a traditional festive song?

I'm going through a tough exam season right now, and I have to work really hard. Looking forward to the holiday after all of this is honestly what keeps me moving.

Every New Year feels like a reset button — a moment where dreams suddenly seem possible. I wanted the song to sound exactly like that spark. Traditional festive songs are cozy and nostalgic, but I felt like the holiday season also needed something bold, energetic, almost rebellious.

So instead of bells and soft choirs, we went for guitars, live drums, and a pop-rock pulse that feels like fireworks in your chest. It’s still festive — just through the lens of someone stepping into her next chapter.

How did moving from Russia to Spain influence the emotional tone and lyrics?

Moving countries changes you more than you expect. Spain gave me sunlight, open spaces, and a sense of freedom I didn’t have before — but it also made me grow up faster.

“A New Year’s Wish” carries both sides: the bright, hopeful energy of a new life and the bittersweet feeling of leaving a whole world behind.

The song is basically me standing between the past and the future and whispering: “Okay… now it’s my turn.”

The track blends pop-rock energy with heartfelt vocals. How did you balance the two?

We wanted the vocals to feel emotional but still powerful enough to ride the guitars. I love singing with a bit of grit and push, but the verses needed intimacy. So we built the arrangement like a wave — quieter storytelling moments rising into big, open choruses.

It’s a conversation that turns into a celebration.

You describe it as a song for “dreamers, rebels, and wish-makers.” How do you express that in lyrics and melody?

The lyrics are like a pep-talk to yourself before midnight — that moment when you secretly hope life will hear you this time. I tried to make every line feel like a little spark: daring but honest.

Melodically, the chorus jumps upward on purpose. It’s literally written to feel like taking a breath and stepping into the unknown with courage.

How do cinematic elements help bring your diary-like stories to life?

We wrote this song the same way I write in my diary — small details, real emotions, snapshots of moments. The cinematic sound lets these small memories feel bigger, like scenes from a movie.

Strings, layered harmonies, guitar swells — they make the everyday dramatic in the best possible way. Life is emotional, so why pretend it isn’t?

Which artists or moments inspired the shimmering, hook-driven energy of “A New Year’s Wish”?

I grew up on a lot of pop-rock movie soundtracks — Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, early Miley Cyrus. That mix of sparkle + attitude always felt like home to me.

But that’s not all. Every New Year, the theater studio where I studied used to put on a festive, emotional production for children. I remember those matinees, that little involuntary sigh of admiration when the lights went up.

And honestly? New Year fireworks inspired the production just as much. We wanted the track to burst the same way the sky does at midnight.

How do you write songs that feel personal but still universal, especially for a holiday theme?

I focus on feelings first — not the holiday itself. Everyone knows what it’s like to hope for something, to want a change, to be brave or scared about the future.

If the emotion is honest, people connect, even if the story is mine. The holiday theme is just the wrapping paper — the message inside is for everyone.

With songs from “Step by Step” to “Roblox Realms,” how do you keep a cohesive sonic identity?

For me, it’s about energy and storytelling. Even when the themes are different — from personal growth to gaming worlds — the vocal attitude, the cinematic layers, and the balance of softness + strength stay the same.

My sound grows with me, but it’s always rooted in emotion and movement.

How do optimism and vulnerability meet in your songwriting, especially here?

I’m a hopeful person by nature, but I’m also honest about fears and doubts. I think real optimism comes with vulnerability — not instead of it.

In this track, the verses open the door to insecurity, and the chorus answers with determination. That contrast is very “me”.

How do you see your sound evolving while keeping your cinematic pop-rock identity?

I want to grow into a sound that’s even more expressive — bigger choruses, stronger riffs, deeper storytelling — but still warm and human.

I love blending rawness with sparkle. If I can keep that balance and keep telling real stories, then my sound will evolve naturally as I do.
