On “Man, You Know,” the project turns a father-son tribute into a wiry, hook-heavy burst of punked-up indie rock
Nima and the Joons’ latest single, “Man, You Know,” arrived on February 10, 2026. Nima Kazerouni, formerly of So Many Wizards, frames it as a tribute to his father and, by extension, immigrant parents who built a life through sacrifice, and for me, the song works because it doesn’t treat that sentiment with soft-focus reverence.
Instead, it comes at the subject with buoyant guitar riffs, a restrained wash of synth, and a raw, lo-fi edge that keeps the track moving with punk momentum. It knows exactly when to lean into melody and when to let the abrasion stay in the frame. The result feels close to early-’80s indie rock in spirit, and the performance sounds personal, immediate, and a little unruly in the best way.
