INTERVIEW: SEE YOUR SHADOW

1. Cru cru , super nice to have the chance to chat with you! What first got you into music?

Well thanks. My mom probably instilled the passion for all types of music from an early age. I remember we listened to everything but I started playing violin in the school orchestra and that actually laid the foundation. From there I moved to the band and then I discovered I was a natural poet so I decided to put all of that together and become a songwriter. Then everything just morphed into what we are now, the musical creation entity known as See Your Shadow.

2. Can you tell us a cringe memory of yours?

A cringe memory. In show business there are always cringe memories. I mean you worry if the sound is right, are people going to show up on time and all the things that could go wrong and then of course getting the bill for the studio time is always cringe worthy. But in all seriousness, I produce the world's only game show about oral sex and on that show one of the contestants put a maraca up his ass and then put it in his mouth, I don't know if that is cringe worthy but it certainly took me as the host and then our audience on a wild ride that day.

3. What's your favorite food?

Soul food is actually my favorite food. I love fried chicken, greens, macaroni and cheese and all of the things that folks in my culture (African American) prepare when they get the family together.

4. Will you tell us something embarrassing about you?

Something embarrassing, hmmm. I used to dress like Boy George when I was in high school.

5. What's the best decade for music?

The 1980s was by far the best decade for music, hands down. I say that because when you go back and look at the Billboard Charts you had every genre in the top ten there was so much variety.

6. What's your favorite 2010's artist?

This is a hard one. When I think about that particular era, nothing really stands out or just hits me in the gut as a wow. With that said, however, I think one of the most incredible talents to come our way in a long time is the simply gorgeous Jennifer Hudson. I think that she is fantastic.

7.What's the best advice you ever gave?

That's an easy one and I give it all the time freely. I always tell artists never to apologize for the art you create.

8. How is your musosoup experience going?

I can't say I have had any experience with Musosoup. There are so many platforms and I have folks that handle all that kind of stuff for See Your Shadow. Although I must say it must be going well as we are building our fanbase with each day that passes and we have been getting some great reviews and features so they must be coming from somewhere.

9. What's your favorite 60's album?

Oh my goodness there are so much good music from this era. I do have to say though that I love, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme by Simon and Garfunkel. There is a cut on that album where they sing Silent Night to the backdrop of Walter Concrete delivering the nightly news that is absolutely chilling while being brilliant at the same time. Pure genius.

10. Do You agree with the Pigeon?

Depends on the topic, if it is that our latest record is a must have and listen, then by all means I agree.
