INTERVIEW: MATT DE ANGELIS

1. Cru Cru MATT DEANGELIS , super nice to have the chance to chat with you! What first got you into music?

I first got into music from my dad, who is a professional musician, and my mom who has written a good amount of poetry in the past. I started writing songs at the age of 8 and have been writing ever since.

2. Can you tell us a hobby of yours?

One hobby other than music that I love is storm chasing, as I am an advocate for climate change. I've been heavily into meteorology since I was very young and have started to storm chase more seriously over the last several years. I was able to capture the closest footage of an EF3 tornado that came through near my home last year. My footage made the national news and I recently have appeared on The Weather Channel's show, Deadline to Disaster.

3. What’s your favorite dream?

My dream would be to make it in the professional music industry. I want people to be able to hear my music and become inspired. That's my main goal.

4 Will you tell us something embarrassing about you?

One embarrassing moment I had was when I sang the wrong song on top of a different song. I was about 30 seconds into the song before I realized it!

5. What’s the best decade for music and film?

The best decade for music and film was the 1970's in my opinion. The amount of ground breaking talent that emerged was unbelievable. Many of these bands and musicians are big inspirations for me today.

6. What’s your favorite 80’s artist?

My favorite 80's band was U2. I'm not a huge fan of the 80's, but that is the one band from the 80's that I love. They are also a big inspiration to me as a musician.

7.What’s the best advice you ever gave?

The best advice I could ever give is maintaining perseverance and keeping your head up during the most difficult times. As a musician in this business, this is the key to success. Looking forward is the best advice I have given.

8. How is your musosoup experience going?

Musosoup has been very beneficial for my promotion and has definitely helped my career. There are many opportunities that I am taking advantage of. I am always on the lookout for promotion opportunities for my music. I have had a great experience so far.

9. What’s your favorite 70’s artist?

The 70's are my favorite decade of music by far. Picking just one artist is very difficult for me, but if I had to pick one artist, it would be David Bowie. He was my first true inspiration as a musician and songwriter.
