.1. Cru Cru ALEUTIANS , super nice to have the chance to chat with you! What first got you into music?

Hello! Probably listening to my dad’s and older siblings’ CDs, the Smiths, the Cure, Tom Petty, Squeeze, the Lightning Seeds etc. A bit later in school I got introduced to bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Promise Ring, Weakerthans, American football etc. I remember hearing Plans for the first time, as soon as Marching Bands of Manhattan started I knew this is what I wanted to do, this is the kind of music I always wanted to make. Give up by the Postal Service doesn’t need any more praise thrown at it it but it absolutely changed everything for me, still a perfect album 20 years later.

2. Can you tell us a cringe memory of yours?

Wow. There’s a lot, so I’ll try and pick something in the mid range here to avoid massive embarrassment! I used to think I could speak German to an ok standard, and then when a German girl started at work she told me (the bits she could understand) sounded like, “a sh*t rapper.”

She did help me out with it though, so…positives.

3. What’s your favorite food?

Tempted to say something super sophisticated and classy here but honestly it’s just going to be a cheeseburger and fries.

4 Will you tell us something embarassing about you?

How long have you got?! Haha.

In school, I spent about 3 hours making a full, insanely detailed world map. I’m colourblind and people had been relentlessly taking the p*** out of me for it, so when they told me I was colouring it wrong I ignored them and thought they were just winding me up again. When I handed it in the teacher asked why most of the world was mustard and the sea was all purple.

5. What’s the best decade for music?

I don’t think think the overall quality of music in the 00s was necessarily the best, (there was a lot of landfill indie around then) but in terms of our influences and their main releases (Give Up, Plans, Reconstruction Site etc) probably the best for us. Overall, probably the 80s, lots of new sounds flying around and experimentation, great alternative music and some classic pop songs that have stood the test of time.

6. What’s your favorite 50’s artist?

Buddy Holly is timeless.

7.What’s the best advice you ever gave?

It’s never stupid to have dreams, it’s stupid not to.

God, that sounds so cheesy now haha.

8. How is your musosoup experience going?

Yeah pretty well, great to connect with creatives and other cool people.

9. What’s your favorite 70’s album?

Love bites by Buzzcocks. Just raw energy and some great hooks.

10. Do You agree with the Pigeon?

Well…that depends on the question but you seem polite, so….yes?
