Half-Smirk, Half-Slash! Drunk Drama turn Seattle garage-punk into a lean, self-lacerating burst

On their self-titled 2025 album, the three-piece keep the hooks rough, and the emotional damage close to the surface. 

I hear Drunk Drama as the kind of record that knows exactly how much room punk rock really needs. The Seattle trio’s self-titled album runs six songs and lands in just under 18 minutes, with punk, garage rock, punk rock, rock & roll, and surf punk. For me, the best thing about it is how the songs feel clipped and deliberate as if every beat has been trimmed to keep the tension alive!

“Christine” and “Emotional AF” arrived earlier in 2025 as single-length teasers, each barely over two minutes, which makes the full record feel even more like a concentrated statement. “Daddy,” “Narcissus,” “Temporarily Useless,” “Wasteland" reveal a band comfortable with sarcasm and self-exposure at the same time, and that balance gives the album its bite! I hear a group turning garage-punk momentum into something more personal, and keeping the grit that makes it hit.
