I think the best live covers do two things at once. They salute the original and expose the band doing the covering. On “Sabotage (live in Phoenix),” GRRRizzly do exactly that. The sources around the band make the choice of Beastie Boys feel picked for a reason of attitude.

What I respond to most is the way the song’s aggression becomes a fit. At just 2:31, it feels built for velocity, and that brevity gives the performance a snap that suits a band already releasing a steady run of live singles and covers. For me, the real appeal is pressure. GRRRizzly sound like a group using the stage as a sharpening tool, turning a familiar anthem into something blunt, tight, and fully in command.
