Diana Drive Aim Higher on II

The Connecticut hard-rock band tightens its songwriting on a compact seven-song set. With angular riffs, cinematic tension, and a clearer sense of melody, II feels like a sharper and more confident statement

II arrives as a lean seven-song, 26-minute album. Hard rock that values momentum, contrast, and a clean melodic payoff.  For me, the strongest thing about this album is how deliberately it moves. Diana Drive has spent years signaling a taste for reinterpretation from Rush and Green Day covers to earlier originals like “Behave,” “Mad Science,” and “Maya”, but II feels more focused with a sharpening identity.

“I Got 50k (I Heard It on the Radio)” reads like the album’s most immediate hard-rock thesis, while “Moon and the Stars (We Touch the Sky)” is a wider and more anthem-ready lift.  What I keep coming back to is the balance between grit and polish. The riffs hit with intention, the hooks stay close, and the record’s atmosphere feels engineered for forward motion That makes II feel like a victory lap and a clean reset, at the same time.
