The song “lil runaway” by the artist Outlaw Cartier is an interesting and unique debut track that successfully mixes the modern post-punk vibe with darkwave sound. This composition is built mainly on mood but does not forget to keep dynamics throughout the entire track.
On an instrumental level, there is the dominance of a strong melodic bassline, which serves as the backbone of the entire work. Along with it, there are some layers of guitars and other instruments that create a cold and deep atmosphere. In addition, despite a variety of sound effects, the track looks minimalistic since everything is well balanced.
In terms of vocals, the style and tone of delivery fit the composition perfectly since it creates additional distance and emotionality without being monotonous.
The musical style of the piece resembles The Cure because of its melancholy, however, it is still more relevant in comparison to this band, sounding similar to EKKSTACY and ThxSoMch.
Thus, we should consider this composition as an interesting debut work for Outlaw Cartier.
