Artsit INTERVIEW: ALLIE JASON

"Best that I Ever Did" features its rhythms and beats underpinned by a wave of soothing synths to skin and bone that establish a synergy with an extremely harmonious lo-fi whispered vocal performance qie overflows sugar off the plate, reminding me of legendary giants of electronic pop with dreamy qualities like Hot Chip in my humble opigeon.

1. Cru Cru Allie Jason, super nice to have the chance to chat with you! What first got you into music?

Honestly ever since I was very little I fell in love with the idea of being a musician/performer. I grew up around it as well, having had a very creative family in all aspects.

2. Can you write what was your best performance in your career? How do you remember it?

For some reason that’s a really tough question. I’d have to say I’ve had some really good ones hear and there, but the best has yet to come.

3. Who came first? The chicken or the Egg?

Yes.

4. What would you do if you had a time machine?

Probably travel back and catch some concerts such as The Grateful Dead, The Doors, The Beatles, and perhaps a little trip to Woodstock as well. I’d like to clarify that I am sober so it would all be for the music, the community, and the vibes. 😅

5. What memorable responses have you had to your work?

When I’ve really touched someone’s soul with my performances, it very much warms my heart when they tell me. Honestly it’s odd, as a musician, I feel I don’t hear nearly as much feedback as you’d think. I love when someone enjoys something about my performance, or released music, etc., and comes up to me, or message me, to tell me. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, I absolutely love it!

6. Do you think that technology is improving lives?

Wow, well, I could probably write an entire book on that question but let’s keep it simple…. No.. but also? Yes. What a complex world we live in.

7. Do you have a mentor or coach?

I do not. I did receive some artist development coaching a couple to a few times last year, but now we kind of are just friends/acquaintances at this point. Besides that, over the year I had a few vocal coaches to strengthen my tone, however I only stayed with each of them for, I wanna say, less than a month. However, I was also in chorus for the entirely of high school.

8. What’s your favorite 80’s album?

Hmmmm… wow you’re really hitting me with the tough ones! I was a fan of The Smiths’, “The Queen is Dead,” for a good while there, so let’s go with that!

9. What are you most proud of?

Honestly I’d have to say my sobriety, as well as all my personal healing, mental and physical, that I have done since. I have been sober for about 4 1/2 years now and it’s been quite the intense, but rewarding, journey that I will never regret, or forget.

10. Do You agree with the Pigeon?
