Darkness Is My Canvas - The End Of Times
Darkness Is My Canvas released its first single "Rejected" 29th March 2024 from upcoming full length album "The End Of Times" to be released 11th October.
Established in the heart of 2017 by Pete and Panu, two maestros intertwined with the music scene, Darkness Is My Canvas has since been redefining classic melodic rock for the modern palette. The band was born from a vision to harmonize the resonant tales of classic rock with the pulse of contemporary music, crafting a soundscape that’s uniquely theirs—unapologetically authentic and brimming with a human touch that shuns the mechanical perfection of today’s production norms.
The band’s synergy sparked creativity in the studio, leading to their initial offerings: three compelling video singles released on YouTube in early 2022. Their ‘Monsters’ EP captivated listeners, with the standout track ‘Bleed’—an intense reflection on self-harm—commanding 50,000+ streams across platforms.
Hitting the road in spring 2022, the band’s live presence burgeoned through Southern Finland with over 30 performances, each amplifying their fanbase and fueling their artistic fervor. It was during this time that the distinct similarities to bands like Ghost and My Chemical Romance began to resonate all over their record, catering to fans of that hard-hitting yet melodic style.
The ensuing single ‘Fade Into The White Noise’—a poignant narrative on depression’s impact on relationships—echoed their melodic rock ethos, exceeding a milestone of 50,000+ streams. They also paid homage to Bring Me The Horizon with ‘Drown’, infusing it with their distinct sonic flavor and raking in an impressive 170,000+ streams.
Their proclivity for the profound continued with ‘Inverted’, a homage to 70s prog rock that has evoked comparisons to legends like Uriah Heep and Santana during live renditions. October 2023 saw the release of their ‘White Noise’ EP, a 33-minute opus featuring not just hit singles but also ‘Tilted Vision’—a stark lens on youth violence—and fresh takes on ‘The Game’ and ‘Salvation (Slava Ukraini)’. The EP’s tracks have surpassed 500,000 streams, a testament to the band’s resonant message and sound.
The pinnacle of their journey thus far was reaching the zenith of Finland’s Indie publication chart in week 44 of 2023, a position they held steadfastly the following week. This chart, an emblem of independent music triumphs, underscored their growing influence in the Finnish music landscape.
As 2024 dawned, Darkness Is My Canvas penned a deal with Rockshots Records, setting the stage for their upcoming album—a series of releases poised to elevate their trajectory even further. The first single, slated for March, heralds a cadence of releases every six weeks, each promising to unravel more layers of the band’s evolving story.
Now, with Ginger Vine Management & PR at the helm of their outreach, Darkness Is My Canvas stands on the precipice of new horizons, ready to etch their indelible mark on the annals of rock history. With a sound that carries a lot of melodic music and vocals that are mostly clean with some grit and gruff thrown in to add character, they continue to draw fans into their textured musical journey.
'Hi, Our debut album The End Of Times represents modern progressive rock in its purest form. We Darkness Is My Canvas describe it as a ‘musical thought journey’ that combines spherical contrasts, incredible depth, and grandiose vocal parts. The album showcases our ability to blend bizarre keyboard arrangements with sudden hooklines, atmospheric shifts, and both dark passages fitting the apocalyptic title and surprising bursts of positivity. We hope to gain a bit more Spotify plays and playlistings to be able to push it through for more and more listeners and broader audience. We hope you like it! We certainly do.'
