Anti Lag - Apa Kabar

A driving beat, a fast paced rap, and a whole lot of fun.

There are vanishingly few artists bridging the gap between Australia and Indonesia, even though our two countries are so close! It's nice to have friends over there, and even more fun to make music for them.

The song was inspired by my friend Shakaboyd, who was putting together the Valentunes compilation. But it was also inspired by my youth, learning Indonesian at a school that did not teach it very well. I picked up the basics - words about partying, and how to ask someone how they're going - Apa Kabar? And I built the song from there!

Shakaboyd hit me up and asked me to contribute to his latest compilation. I couldn't possibly say no - so I whipped up a dance banger. Then I wondered... should I be dropping some lyrics over this? I was hesitant, then I went for it. I checked with him—did he want the instrumental or the full

version. He responded in the affirmative - he loved the rap, and the song as a whole.

The music video, shot amongst the gum trees of the Yarra River, along with the dance moves on the table.
