ARTIST INTERVIEW: V OF 40M

Interview

1. Once upon a time you said The Creator got you into music. Do you believe in God?

No, I do not “believe” in God as modern humans do. I KNOW there’s a common source of energy shared amongst all natural living things within this consciousness. That source is what we call the “Creator” and is present in all expressions of life. 40M.us!

2. Why is Black your favorite color?

Because it is the perceived color of darkness but is actually the color of light. The void, the origin of life as you know it. 40M.us!

3. What records from the 80's and 90's do you replay the most?

No cap, I love 80’s and 90’s RnB. A little 80’s Rock, Synthwave, etc.. Everything from Angela Winbush, Glenn Jones, Kashif to Hall and Oates, Tears For Fears and more. Hell I can go back even further than that but ya’ll not ready. 40M.us!

4. Are you making the most of your time right now?

I am. Great battles usually come with great adversity so much of my time is spent navigating and weaving through obstacles that have and will continue to prepare me. Every moment of every day I am working to build what I envision for my people and the better prepared I am, the greater the results will be for us all. 40M.us!

5. Do you have any found memories of Fugees' The Score?

Yeah, I do. They use to run Killing Me Softly, Fu-gee-la, Ready or Not and more on Power99 when I was kid so when “The Score” began to formulate - it just made sense. 40M.us!

6. What do you think of "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill being the number one album on Apple Music's list: The 100 Best Albums of All Time?

Well, she’s a Melanite and has been far more conscientious in how her art impacts our people than most so I’m automatically ok with the nod. The Creator gave her a voice and she has done phenomenal things with it within music, I just wish that she and all of our artists would use their influence to be of maximum benefit to our people. To inform, inspire, motivate and even mobilize. 40M.us!

7. What's the meaning of the number 40?

40M, in part, is based on the number of Melanites or “Black Americans” present in the US at the start of this quote-unquote millennium. There were approximately forty million of us here on the mainland so in its origin the movement was called Forty Million Strong or 40M. Infrastructural building, internal and external resourcing and the realization of our collective self-determination in the context of International law. Complete independence and autonomy. 40M.us!

8. What's the meaning of the letter M?

Movement, Members, Melanites, Mobilizs, etc.. It has many meanings but to keep it brief, Movement of the Melanites.

9. 4's Up?

Can’t give y’all all the sauce here so let’s just say it’s a greeting amongst members (haha!) For all that and more, tap in - V of 40M or @Vof40M on all platforms. Again, that’s V of 40M or @Vof40M on all platforms. You don’t even have to type my entire name - Google, Yahoo, etc just search me up. We active. 40M.us!

10. Do you agree with the Pigeon?

If the pigeon agrees in equal human rights for all and that the Melanites should have their autonomy the same as all other people of this planet should then hell motherf***in’ yeah! Big 4’s, heavy. 40M.us!

Review

"The Score" is inspired by The Fugees and brings together the already well-known V Of 40M with Tye and Hipoie G in an exceptional super catchy hit that features psychedelic rhythms and beats, soccer references that involve touchdowns, flows and spontaneous drills that are still trapped in the war of the streets driven by the gangsta spirit and the revolution carried out by minorities. A journey to death not to be missed at a boombox near you!
