Twice Dark - Telekinetic
(•)> Cru cru Twice Dark, what first got you into music?
Oh yes I'm on musosoup too. That's odd. Maybe I can find a link to send you. When I was in junior high I really enjoyed metal and punk and emplored my nerdy friends who I played dungeons and dragons with to start a band. I ended up learning guitar but none of them learned anything. I eventually found like minded kids who wanted to play and formed a punk band (around 1992)
(•)> Did you have a 12 - sided die back in the day?
I can't remember a 12 sided die. I remember the 20 and the 6 and the 4 sided ones and my friend had a 100 sided die which was almost a ball. 😂.
(•)> What metal and punk records were you really into when you were in high school?
In jr high I was into thrash metal like early Metallica and I liked the misfits, black flag, minor threat, 1st wave hard core punk. I also liked grind core, death metal and black metal. My favorites at that time were Obituary, a local band called Blatherskite and bands like mayhem (until I learned of the misogyny, bigotry and homophobia in some of those bands).
(•)> What's was the name of the punk band you formed in 1992?
The name of the 1st punk band I played in was called Fosh Krank. Just nonsense really. This was all around 1991 - 1993 or so.
(•)> Did you and your friends also had Kitty Pride and Nightcrawler? What about posters on the wall of your favorite rock group?
I'm not familiar with kitty pride and nightcrawler. I'll check them out. As far as posters, I'm trying to remember. I know I had a huge rage against the machine poster (burning monk that said Fuct) but I can't remember the other posters specifically. They were probably punk and metal posters for the most part.
(•)> Did Fosh Krank had any hits aha?
No fish Krank didn't have any hits, we were a very small band that played locally in greenwood Indiana and downtown Indiana. We played probably 5 or 6 shows total. I remember we had a song called Mold that people liked.
(•)> What was "Mold" about?
Mold was a dumb song it wasn't really about anything. One of the lines was, I feel like mold so it was just about feeling gross or under the weather or mad or just not having a good time.
(•)> Can't you separate the art from the artist?
Can I separate the art from the artist? Yes absolutely, especially now as I'm much older. Less so when I was younger. I have a career outside of art / music which is very straitlaced compared to my goth career. Music helps me vent my frustrations about life, society, politics, existence, etc.
(•)> When mentioning Kitty Pride and Nightcrawler I was just being cheeky by referecing a Weezer song that means the world to me: "In The Garage". Did you have a poster of the monk setting himself on fire?!
Oh yeah, that's why those sounded familiar. Yes I had the poster of the monk on fire.
(•)> Are you a fan of Weezer's debut?
Yes, this was a great album, I can’t say it was my favorite (I was in highschool when it came out) but it was up there. I had a lot of respect for the blue album.
(•)> What artist is underrated?
It’s hard to choose 1 but if I had to I’d say, Cause & Effect. They’re a Synth Pop band from the early 90s to the 2010s. Their first mainstream album, Another Minute is one of my favorite synth pop albums of all time. It’s really amazing and not widely known. Rob Rowe still makes music, check him out.
(•)> Do you agree with the Pigeon?
Pigeon seems very wise so yes, I agree with Pigeon. 🙂
(•)> What should the Pigeon listen to tomorrow?
Samedi’s song Between Two Hearts.
Cetu Javu’s song Situation
And the B Movie’s song Nowhere Girl
