ARTIST INTERVIEW: STEVE YOUNG UK

Steve Young UK - Dog and Bone

1. Cru cru, what first got you into music?

At school I used to play trumpet in the brass band but things really kicked in for me when I went to see Pink Floyd in London when I was 16

2. What or who is your inspiration to create music?

So many incredible musicians and songwriters out there. Old favourites Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, ZZ Top more recently David Gray, Muse, Chris Stapleton

3. How do you feel the internet has impacted the music business?

Its bitter sweet. It's allowed endless amounts of awful music to swamp the sysytem but also given a platform for those without big budgets or major label deals

4. Will you tell us something embarassing about you?

I used to have an Ego and regret a lot of things I have said and done in the past

5. How is your perfect day?

Sunny. No traffic (or Audi drivers), a happy audience enjoying my own songs (I play covers for a living), home before midnight with a glass of red wine and my dog asleep next to me

6. What memorable responses have you had to your work so far?

I've had a lot of great feedback. Particularly from my more emotional songs like My Son but this latest one Dog & Bone has easily had more favourable comments than any other

7. Do you see yourself as a music nerd?

I am when I'm teaching but when performing it's all about the emotion and the vibe. I don't care who many winds my pickup has or what the wood is made of as long as it Sings!!!

8. What album do you replay the most?

I'm more a playlist kind of guy. Dirty Swamp Blues has been my go to for a while now

9. What's your favorite movie?

All of them!!

10. Do you agree with the Pigeon?

In London they call them flying rats but out in the country where they are bit cleaner I think they are actually quite attractive birds and have a soft sound when they 'Coo'
