"I think it's important to stand up for the people you value and work with so I don't regret it."
1. Hey Stefan Dando, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?
Weirdly it was either the 1998 or 1995 Microsoft Encarta where I stumbled across Little Richard and the page had a little clip of one of his songs. I think it was Tooty Fruity? I don't remember but I was hooked from that moment. I was obsessed by his music for a few years after that too. Then Green Day totally captured me as a teenager, I was big into pop punk growing up. I was always in those kinds of bands.
2. Did you ever had any beef in the music industry?
I've never had any beef with other artists, but when I was playing for other people I got myself banned from a local venue we were playing at when I complained about a member of staff who was rude to the singer I was working for. Turns out it was the venue owner's husband. I think it's important to stand up for the people you value and work with so I don't regret it.
3. Would you describe your perfect day?
Wake up late and spend the day quietly reading at the edge of a lake. In Sweden preferably, the lakes there are so beautiful.
4. What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great musician?
I'm great at working as a team, I've always had great communication and rapport on stage and in the studio with the people I've worked with. I tend to get on well with people. Music is so collaborative for the most part, it almost doesn't matter how good you are if you can't work well with others.
5. What’s your favorite 60’s artist?
The Rolling Stones probably because my parents loved them but I'm more partial to the 70s and 80s honestly.
6. Can you tell us a cringe memory of yours?
I'm not sure if its cringe but it was really awkward. One of the first few times I performed at an open mic I was playing Yesterday and this old lady came up on stage and stood super close to me, so close you could hear her breathing in the microphone. She was staring directly at me it was so weird. Eventually someone came and got her but I played the whole song like that it was so uncomfortable.
7. What’s the best advice you ever gave?
No amount of success matters when your dead so don't sweat the numbers. Just enjoy your time doing whatever you like. As long as you're not hurting anyone or anything of course.
8. Will you tell us something embarrassing about you?
I'm a huge geek, for video games in particular but Star Wars, Marvel, LOTR, you name it. I mean the group chat of my closest friends is literally called LOTR marathon. The marathon never did happen though.
9. Do you listen to podcasts?
I actually don't, I'm always looking for new music to listen to and there are so many amazing artists to discover out there.
10. Do You Agree with the Pigeon?
I never agree with anyone blindly. Question everything.
The Pigeon added the new single to his Weekly Gems playlist on Spotify.
