Artist INTERVIEW: SMALL BOSS

1. Hey Small Boss, super nice to have the chance to chat with you! What first got you into music?

Hey Pigeon! Great to chat with you as well!

I first started writing songs at the age of 7. I was in the third grade. I just started at a new school. One of my first friends invited me to his house after school. I had never seen MTV before but, on that day they played the 50 Cent "Wanksta" video and Eminem's "Just Don't Give a F*ck" video. My friend was already really into Eminem, for me Em would go on to be an important influence but, on my first experience with hip-hop it was 50 Cent how blew my mind and It was like I found my calling at 7 years old.

2. What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?

The biggest challenge of being an artist is that during the early years of your career only you can see the vision. So it takes a lot of faith and perseverance to get yourself to a place where other people not only see your vision but support it as well. Whoever is an early supporter cherish those people, friends, and family! They're so helpful. In my experience and a person with religious values I feel that if it wasn't for GOD and his favor, his blessings, and the strength that he gave me I would not have been able to make it through that phase of my career. I feel so blessed to be able to do what I love and know that this is undeniably Gods plan because my experience and path has been so incredible that could only be entirely by God's design.

3. Would you describe your perfect day?

My perfect day is a happy day, with great vibes and energy, spent with my loved ones, making music, and enjoying life.

5. What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

If it wasn't for music, I probably wouldn't be doing anything lol. It may be cliche to say but music truthfully saved my life. I couldn't imagine life without it and I certainly wouldn't be me without it. I need music like I need oxygen, I wouldn't even want to live without it.

6. When did you fall in love with colors?

I've loved colors since I the day I was born. As an artist, I always feel there's no art that compares to God's art. I love every color. I see colors when I hear music. Colors are a blessing from God. They're tied into our energy and emotions and we should cherish them accordingly. I celebrated that feeling on my 2020 debut album, Colors From Over The Wall.

7. What are your long term goals?

My long term goals is to accomplish the goals and the mission God set out for me. Which includes working in the music industry, writing songs, and releasing great records for my entire life. That's not all though, I have a big mission ahead of me!

8. What’s your favorite 2010’s album?

My favorite 2010's album is Drake's, Take Care. In my opinion his best album, and an overall masterpiece.

9. If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

If I could open for Jay-Z I would literally do back-flips!!! It would be a dream come true on so many levels.

10. Do You Agree with the Pigeon?

I think Kanye said "I don't agree 100% with anyone but myself." I felt that lol. So I think the pigeon likes my song "Good Day" and I agree with him on that! lol. I guess it depends on what the pigeons opinion is that day!

The Pigeon added the new single to his Weekly Gems playlist on Spotify.
