Review
Check out the new original album by MRMT: "MRMT (MYTHICRAREMRTOAD)"!
MRMT. features intense and experimental percussion, skin and bone beats, and unsettling sounds that send shivers down my spine like the score of unsettling horror movies shrouded in mystery and suspense... In "The Great Ravetoad" an atmosphere is created that stimulates the imagination, and the scariest thing is not the monster next to me in this dark, absymal room, but the monster that my imagination sees. MRMT.'s percussion seems to be programmed into an algorithm, which makes me feel lost forever in a futuristic cybernetic abyss. A purposely sterile world, cold and calculated like the matrix. However, life emerges in the form of strings that appear to be the light at the end of this dark tunnel. These melodic strings are "the chosen ones" and are willing to clash against this organized system. "The Great Ravetoad" stands out immensely for being naturally multifaceted, with the guitars adding immense soul and spontaneity. This opener features delicate riffs from the acoustic six-string that sound more like jazz compared to this cinematic control network that traps almost every melody within a perimeter, and even this shimmering delicacy that I cherish so much ends up becoming deliberately monotonous, just as we take free will for granted.
