5. What’s your favorite 60’s artist?
6. What makes you the happiest?
7. What is the biggest decision you’ve had to make?
8. What’s your favorite Youtube channel?
9. Can you describe a real-life situation that inspired you?
10. Do you agree with the Pigeon?
1. For me, I actually first got into music when I was in 4th grade and decided to join the school band. I remember trying out probably 5-6 different instruments and couldn't really make one work until it came down to Trombone, Tuba, or this weird thing I'd never heard of called the Baritone (like a mini-tuba). I didn't really want to deal with a slide on a Trombone and the Tuba was to heavy, so I decided to play the Baritone, and that was my first step into my journey with music.
2. I would say sometimes, I don't play them really that often. I'd probably say my favorite is Rocket League, hopefully not to boring, but I just don't play many videogames really.
3. I think I get nostalgia from looking back at like old 90's/early 2000's cartoons and different items that I remember seeing.
4. I spend most of my time, honestly writing or playing music or in the summer, relaxing at my pool.
5. I don't know if I necessarily have one, but if I had to pick, I guess it would be The Jackson 5.
6. Spending quality time with my closest friends, probably makes me the happiest.
7. Probably saying yes to staying put in a place where I may not have wanted to be in the moment, but knew it was where I needed to be to be grown and developed as a person.
8. I would say the REACT channel. I would literally watch those all the time while I was in college, like while I was eating lunch/dinner in the computer lab or what not.
9. So something I do as well is work as a worship leader at a church, and one of the priviledges I get is to work with Middle school, high school, and young adult musicians and singers and develop them. I get to work and develop a college student who had really no experience in music or singing, and take them from no experience to becoming a lead singer in both our college services and adult services. So that is pretty humblying and inspiring to get to the honor to be a part of seeing that.
10. I would imagine out of all the possible scenarios and situations, we surely agree on something. Haha! Like maybe that music is one of the most amazing and moving thing that we get to experience our be a part of.
Review
"As Simple As It Gets" brings an indie energy to pop that seems forgotten. Marcus Barnes stands out with a bombastic production and a perfect catchy hook about second guesses and sleeping with someone until noon... the ideal single to listen to either on the radio during a road trip and sing in unison with friends (the synths are so adrenergic and propel the track's energy into the stratosphere) or alone in the bedroom, as Marcus' performance is significantly emotional and bittersweet.
The Pigeon added a single from her to his Weekly Gems playlist on Spotify. You can check out the released music below. If you like what you hear, make sure to follow along so you can stay on top of future releases!
