ARTIST INTERVIEW: KINGSEEKER

Interview

Cru cru Kingseeker, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?

Thanks for having us!

For me my dad has always been a drummer for country bands, so there was always music and band members in my home. I remember my dad’s band had practices in our house when I was a kid.

My mom was into 80’s hair metal, ABBA and Opera, so my first musical memory is Europe’s Final Countdown coming from a cassette player my mom and dad had.

What is "Passing Moments Caught Forever" and why does it go hard as fuck?

Passing Moments Caught Forever is the sophomore full album release from Kingseeker. It goes hard as fuck because it plays on nostalgic Alternative metal from the 2000’s mixed with a modern metalcore and hardcore sound.

Have you ever felt the spirit of metal while on stage? And in the crowd?

Not really sure what that means, but each of our live-shows we try to play our hearts out, doesn’t matter if there's like 5 people there or a million. We want people to leave the show thinking “Fuck, that band Kingseeker really don’t fuck around do they?”

Some crowds are better than others of course, but crowds in Norway are a bit more “stand still and watch” than other places. Sweden is thus far THE sickest place we’ve played. Shoutout to Kulturhuset Femman and Scent Of Surface in Uppsala for hooking up that Halloween gig.

Do you consider yourself a music - nerd?

Yes, and no, I’d say the instrumentalists in our band are music nerds. Emil (our bassist and producer) studied music in High School and music production at university and is into progressive music like Leprous and such..

Aron (our guitarplayer) Studied music in high school and went to a music school after that. He’s more into the deathcore, downtuned Emmure style of music.

Marius (our drummer) is into prog, Periphery and Metallica.

Have you ever taught or mentored another musician?

The closest thing is I helped Emil out with a client during the recording of vocals.

What’s your favorite 90’s artist?

Ice Cube, Hum, Earth Crisis or NOFX

Can you tell us a cringe memory of yours?

Once when i was playing a local show when i was 17 or something. It was peak “have pants that are huge” era. I had one of those and my pants literally fell down, and i had to finish the song with my pants down. It was humiliating, but i had to pretend that it was intentional.

What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great musician?

I feel i have a good grapes of how a vocal melody or rhythm should go. Like immediately-

I understand how songs should go together well, and i can hear what is “supposed” to come next-

Do you sing in the shower? If yes, what songs?

I actually practice my own songs in the shower.

Do you agree with the Pigeon?

The pigeon is the flying rat, it knows too much.

Bonus question:

Why do you call yourselves Kingseekers? Are you seeking any kings or do you support a monarchic party?

We want to rekindle the age of fire. We must defeat Gwyn so we may take his place.

That bastard is parryable, which as a boss in Dark Souls is weak sauce. (We’re named after Kingseeker Frampt - the primordial serpent from Dark Souls 1).

Review

Kingseeker's "Passing Moments Caught Forever" conquers us with pure electricity from bursting guitars and shouting vocals so frightening and absolutely overwhelming that it feels like the sky is going to fall on my head!!!

Needless to say, the memorable synergy between the intense drums and the six-string riffs goes hard as fuck in this volatile rock that you'll NEVER FORGET! Heads will crash and roll in this anthem that will make your skin crawl with nerves, but that never dares to lose the thread of its hardcore melodies and sometimes even contrasts such fury with lighter and quieter moments.
