ARTIST INTERVIEW: KELSIE KIMBERLIN

Interview

Cru cru Kelsie Kimberlin, awesome to have you again! I already know that you father got you into music by taking you to concerts when you were little, so how are you doing?

A. I am doing OK. Right now, I am focused on supporting Ukraine. I filmed three videos there in August and the first two have gone viral with millions of views, plays, streams, and radio play.

What memorable responses have you had to your previous release: "Armageddon"?

A. One reviewer wrote something that really nailed it. He said that the song and video are like a “war cry” on the way to a Ukrainian victory. In contrast,

Another Chance To Live Again” is about individual and collective loss.

Who deserves another chance to live again?

A. All those civilians and soldiers lost in the war deserve another chance to live again. The war is unjust and no Ukrainian deserved to die for the ego of a twisted dictator.

Where are you going to record next month's video "Turn Back," or is it already recorded?

A. I already recorded and filmed “Turn Back.” It is the third video I filmed in August when I was in Ukraine. In the song, I ask all refugees to return home to help Ukraine rebuild and heal the wounds of the nation.

What would you do if you had a time machine?

A. As I say in the song, if I could turn back time, I would ensure that the war never started in Ukraine so all the hundreds of thousands of people killed and injured would be alive and healthy.

Do you think that technology is improving lives?

A. Technology is a double-edged sword. It can benefit society in so many ways but when abused, it can harm. For example, Twitter can educate civilians about important issues but when it allows propaganda, hate, and lies to spread, people are harmed.

What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as an artist?

A. I am constantly writing and recording new original material and pushing the envelope in my videos. I am at a point in my career where I can be more creative than ever before so I will be adding some new dimensions to my music in the coming year.

Can you write what was your best performance in your career? How do you remember it?

A. Well, that’s a difficult question because I like many performances. But I think the most memorable performance was in the studio singing the outro answers to “Another Chance To Live Again.” My vocal coach asked me to sing those lines many times and he kept saying, “add more sauce,” so the end result was phenomenal.

What's your favorite Shrek film? (Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek 3 or Shrek 4ever after?

A. Sorry, but I will have to stick with the original Shrek.

Do you still agree with the Pigeon even though, unfortunately, he doesn't have any birds as pets?

B. Generally, yes. Thanks for the interesting interview.

Review

Kelsie Kimberlin continues to protest on behalf of all of us against war and humanity's disagreements in "Another Chance To Live Again". A theatrical and cinematic hit that draws on a haunting religious aesthetic, very well achieved in portraying with her extraordinarily soft and angelic voice the despair of all those left without their loved ones!!!
