(•)> Cru cru Jacre, what first got you into music?
It seems to be in my genes, as I come from a line of musicians. Despite being adopted into a very unmusical family and not knowing about my musical heritage, I started writing and singing at a very young age. Back in the 80’s/90’s I wrote three full stage musicals, but then took a break until I discovered my musical parentage in 2019. That prompted me to start writing again, and I released my first single in 2020.
(•)> What were your musicals about? What musical inspires you the most? What's your favorite musical of all time?
I wrote one about Joan of Arc, and two more about local heroes. I'd rather not focus on musical theatre though, as that was a long time ago and doesn't have any impact on what I do now.
(•)> Fair enough, what other musicians inspire you the most and why?
In terms of current artists, definitely Hozier. His writing, performance and production are all amazing.
(•)> And, what not so current artists?
Bowie and Radiohead. Bowie because of the range of what he did, and the artistry that went with it. Radiohead because their music was beautiful and revolutionary
(•)> What artist is underrated? And overrated?
Underrated artist: Orange Blossom. Overrated: The Beautiful South have always made my toes curl.
(•)> What's your most controversial music opinion?
I'm too much of a snowflake to tell you my most controversial music opinion 😱. My second most controversial: Paul McCartney was a more interesting songwriter than John Lennon.
(•)> What should the Pigeon listen to tomorrow?
JOON by Ideini
(•)> Do you agree with the Pigeon?
Always, and in all things. I bow before you.
