1. Hey Matt of Grave Return, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?
This is only one member of Grave Return so I can't speak for the rest of the band. What got me into music was music itself. It captured me like nothing else. Kinda like that first cigarette when you get that crazy head buzz. It was like that, but different. Better even.
2. Your latest release is “DCxPC Live Vol. 6 Presents Grave Return & The Hamiltons Live At The Danger Room”. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?
The making of it was because it was during the pandemic and nobody was playing live shows. Our genius friends came up with the idea of doing a live stream. (The eventual parties being DCXPC Live, Danger Room Recording Service, No Vacancy Media, and Jim Leatherman for the pics). And it ended up being us and our bros from The Hamiltons. Did anything interesting happen? Something always interesting seems to happen at our shows, usually at our own expense.
3. If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
We've somehow had the luck to open for some of our favorite bands. The Damned, Radolescents, Agent Orange. We've been super fortunate and will always remember those shows.
4. What is one message you would give to your fans?
We're not obnoxious enough to preach a message. I'm sure we're plenty obnoxious in other ways. Some of our songs are about weird stuff. But we're weird. Some are about real events. And all are rehashed interpretations (read: ripoffs) of bands we love.
5. Can you describe a real-life situation that inspired you?
Yes.
6. What are you focusing on right now?
We're focusing on writing new stuff.
7. What do you dislike about the art world?
Can't think that deeply. Sorry.
8. What’s the best decade for music?
Three decades: 60's, 70's & 80's.
9. Do you usually agree with the Pigeon?
Absolutely. All the time.
The Pigeon added the new single to his Weekly Gems playlist on Spotify.
