ARTIST INTERVIEW: GARY DRANOW

Interview

Review

In Hadrian's Wall" Gary Dranow's electrifying guitars give birth to emotional melodies that build an imposing wall, just like the opening tracks of Pink Floyd's much celebrated The Wall! Dranow's storytelling is as sharp as ever, as he confesses that his father died early of heartbreak and locked away his feelings forever, just like a whole generation that has trouble showing any kind of emotion or feeling - it's sad. The structure is familiar, but Gary's pianos guarantee nostalgic effects and desert rock bridges show how far he is from his own children and ex-wife. In short, "Hadrian's Wall" is the story of a life in which we reflect on ageing and cyclical generational problems.
