Artist INTERVIEW: FERMATA CAESURA

The band were on tour!!!

1. Cru Cru Fermata Caesura , super nice to have the chance to chat with you! What first got you into music? My Dad is a drummer so I was exposed to live music as a baby. I grew up listening to The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, pretty much all the greats. I was exposed to every genre, from soul to country, but rock music was always my go to genre. I started singing at an early age but it wasn’t until I was given a solo in my 7th grade musical that my family realized that I had a true passion and talent for singing. I began private vocal lessons at 13 and was classically trained until I was 22. After college I made it my priority to get into a band bad I started with joining a cover band. Eventually my journey lead me to Fermat Caesura by answering a Craig’s List ad.

2. Can you tell us a cringe memory of yours? One time during a performance our songwriter and guitarist, Eli was using a capo and started a song in the wrong key. It wasn’t ideal but being agile musicians we made it work. I remember Eli turning towards us and mouthing, “sorry”.

3. What’s your favorite 60’s artist?

That’s a tough one. So many great artists. I’d say Stevie Wonder is probably one of my favs. My Mom listened to Motown when I was young so I have great memories singing and dancing in my living room to him. Of course The Beatles when it comes to the British Invasion in the states and again, great memories of my Dad playing The Beatles on the drums. I absolutely love Led Zeppelin. I actually love them more and more the older I get. Robert Plant is an amazing vocalist and I gain a lot of inspiration listening to him.

4. Will you tell us something embarrassing about you?

I do enjoy a good boy band. I started off by listening to New Kids on the Block and then in college I was a secret *NSYNC fan towards the tail of their career. I’m still a Timberlake fan and I don’t care who knows it. He’s an amazing entertainer. I saw him in **NSYNC and solo. Him solo was absolutely incredible and us one of the best concerts I’ve ever been too.

5. What’s the best genre of music?

There isn’t a best. For me I listen to different genres depending on what mood I’m in. I’m too eclectic to have a favorite.

6. What is your favorite 00's movie?

It’s got to be the devil wears Prada. I mean Meryl Streep and Emily blunt, you can’t go wrong. I could literally watch and start it right over again. It’s a go to for he when I need a pick me up.

7.What’s the best flavor you ever tasted?

I’m obsessed with coffee and chocolate so Tiramisu is my all time obsession. I’m from an Italian family so the bar is set high when it comes to Tiramisu.

8. How is your musosoup experience going?

So far so good.

9. What’s your favorite recent album?

Broods Space Island was on repeat for quite a while. I’ve been a fan of theirs for years now. I absolutely adore Georgia Nott’s vocals. Their music is easy to get lost in.
