Artist INTERVIEW: CHAD LEWINE

1. Hey Chad Lewine, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?

The first memory I have is Michael Jackson’s song Will You Be There, from Free Willy. Then it was always dancing and singing and performing around the house. I was in theater camp my entire childhood. I took saxophone and guitar lessons in elementary school. Music was always a major part of my life - even if it was just appreciating it sometimes.

2. Will you tell us something embarrassing about you?

I bite my nails. I can get it under control when I'm less stressed, but in times of high anxiety it's hard to resist biting as an outlet. Hopefully I can eventually quit that habit with the help of therapy and mindfulness.

3. What’s the best decade for music?

Right now! I would have to say 90s, but that’s because all my core memories were made then. There’s always something new that will eventually be “the best” and always something coming in the future that will replace that.

4. What’s your favorite 50’s artist?

Lol, I definitely can't name a favorite 50s artist. I don't resonate with oldies as much anymore. I do like them, but couldn't tell you much about them.

5. What’s the best advice you ever gave?

Don’t follow one person’s path. Take turns on multiple paths and make your own.

6. How is your musosoup experience going?

Actually quite well. The journalists / playlisters on this website are much less fickle than others. They are willing to post about new, strange, weird and unpopular stuff. Plus the submissions are affordable and trackable. The website experience itself is pretty good though I would suggest a few tweaks to the UI and UX ^_^ Web design IS one of my professions too!

7. What’s your favorite 70’s album?

LOL again, no comment. The first album I listened to front to back was Bleed American by Jimmy Eat World, soooo if the album came before that time I probably didn't listen to it all the way through. Some favorite 70s artists are Manfredd Mann and Supertramp.

8. Who is your inspiration?

I am inspired by the human race and all of our problems and goals. I am inspired by the kid who is alone in their room because they are unsure of how to be themselves in such a confusing world. I am inspired by the billionaires who figured out how to get what they want. I am inspired by the parents and partners and pillars of healthy relationships. I am inspired by anything that makes me feel, think or emote.

9. What’s the best movie of all time?

The Matrix.
