Black Creek Reign - King of Nothig
1. Cru cru, what first got you into music?
My old piano teacher. He was a musical genius and got me hooked on the performance side of music. Watching him work was truly watching a master at work, and I have been inspired ever since.
2. What or who is your inspiration to create music?
Stories about the women I've known in my life have usually inspired my songs. While I talk about political and social topics as well, at heart, I'm a heartbroken drifter. Writing about times and moments that have long past, never to happen again.
3. How do you feel the internet has impacted the music business?
There's good and bad to everything. On one hand, it allows just about anyone to have their voice heard. The issue though, is that cutting through all that noise seems next to impossible most days.
It's allowed everything to be at your fingertips instantly, and while that's great for the casual listener just streaming songs, for creators, it can't be a daunting challenge to stand out from everyone else.
4. Will you tell us something embarassing about you?
I still do not know how to tie and tie properly.
5. How is your perfect day?
My perfect day would be just seeing my band on Spotify's Billboard in my city (Toronto) downtown.
6. What memorable responses have you had to your work so far?
One of my favourites happened some years back, but a girl I knew literally downloaded one of my songs off SoundCloud because it resonated with her that much. And was quick to tell me the next time we hung out how much it meant to her. I've never forgotten that.
7. Do you see yourself as a music nerd?
I like dates. I like knowing when albums and singles came out. Especially from decades past. History, especially music history is fascinating to me. I like hearing the changes in styles and sounds and the years move forward or backwards.
8. What album do you replay the most?
Damien Rice's "O
9. What's your favorite movie?
Rush Hour 2
10. Do you agree with the Pigeon?
Occasionally. hahaha
