"Istanbul" wins me over with very soft melodies coming from textured acoustic guitar chords, piano keys and a very steady percussion. All of these well-crafted elements transport me to the countryside of the USA, which is reputed to be quite peaceful and serene, just as imagined in all the relaxing indie folk records I love. On the other hand, Scot's sincere performance and his sweet but assertive voice that is not afraid to take risks, even though he might regret those decisions in the future. "Istanbul" is the perfect song to think about life and have an existential crisis along the way during this chaotic roadtrip that is living.
