All of Our Cornbread Set Their Own Pace

Seattle collective blends jazz, funk, and absurd humor in a confident sonic evolution

On "Nobody Does It Like We Do", All of Our Cornbread are less concerned with proving how many places their music can visit and more with making those places sound like home.

Released on June 12, 2026, the collective’s second album features nine creative tracks, like “Clock Phone” and “Sock Puppets” that reveal the work’s irreverent tone. Featuring Oliver Norred on vocals and keyboards, two bassists, two drummers, and a full brass section, the instrumental framework showcases complex grooves and dense arrangements of each track. What fascinates me the most is the tension between serious virtuosity and deliberately quirky humor. “The Creature…” literally samples a bass line by Pharoah Sanders and that another track pays homage to Sun Ra. This blend of progressive jazz, funk, and pop with hints of satire is evident in songs like “A Ton of Cash,” in which the band pokes fun at corporate greed (“not even 100 million is enough for us to pay a little attention”).

From the mechanical swing of “Clock Phone” to the melodic layers of “Some Perfect Pavement”, All of Our Cornbread has mastered both their instrumental technique and their eccentric style. And that’s why I highly recommend this sonic journey!
