Kanye showcases a really strong direction choosing whoever sounds best in each moment in order for them to be exactly where they should be in the big picture of his distorted and conflicted mind. I miss the old Kanye (the chop up the beats Kanye), but I won't deny that the new Kanye (the spaz in the news Kanye) is always innovating on the production front. The unpredictable and conceptual risks usually taken by his new version finally payoff here finding the perfect balance between his massive ambition and raw execution.

(•)> "Untitled. Unmastered" will always live in the shadow of "To Pimp A Butterfly" since it is suposed to be a raw and deeper look into its recording sessions. Although, clearly having an unpredictable and colorful core of its own "Untitled. Unmastered" definitely works as a testament to "To Pimp A Butterfly" 's greatness since its scraps are better realized than most records.
