The Replacements - Let It Be (1984)
(•)> Can you believe that in many years as a music nerd, I had never heard The Replacements?! I wanted to listen to this for quite a while now, but I finally decided to check out this iconic band after watching Sleatter-Kinney picking one of their records in Amoeba's "What's in the Bag?" I immediately fell in love with the iconic guitar riffs of the opener "I Will Dare", " Androgynous" - the heart of the record and probably my favorite song on it, and the desolate closer "Answering Machine". Not only do I want to listen to this again but it was my most-played record this week, and it's already one of my favorites from the 80s.

(•)> Very basic riffs. Most of this record is carried by a sequence of nostalgic hits: "Heaven", "Summer of 69", "Run to You", and "Somebody". The deep cuts give it some momentum, but they're nothing to write home about. 14 year old me would've loved it, though.
