Talking Heads - Remain In Light (1980)

(•)> "Remain in Light" dares to start with a mind-blowing opener: "Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)". And the heat goes on indeed since the sound collage of uncut gems that came from their vault is simply on fire on this one. "Crosseyed and Painless" is an insanely groovy follow-up and a great example of how to use a cowbell in a song. This phenomenal record continues full of fun and colorful surprises on a track about a woman who has to move the world, "The Great Curve" which stands tall for its infectious energy. The charismatic and iconic leader of Talking Heads, David Bryne is known for his creative and clever one-liners and asks for his beautiful house, and wife, and also for its large automobile on the bold and nuanced "Once In A Lifetime", the dancefloor hit where the days go by and water flows underground. I can't deny it. After an unstoppable and eargasmic first half, "Remain In Light" slows down. But the darker and more atmospheric second half is also nothing short of greatness. I'm walking a thin philosophical line on the transitional "Houses in Motion". Meanwhile, "Seen and Not Seen" is one of the most futuristic and dystopian tunes here. Without a shadow of a doubt, "Listening Wind" is one of the most heartfelt ballads that ever came out of the 80s, and to end things, The Overload hits me with the crushing despair typical of the late 70s. "Remain In Light" 's afrobeat section certainly owes a lot to Fella Kuti's "Zombie!", but the band dared to do something new and forward-thinking with it, influencing highly praised acts of today like Black Midi, Parquet Courts, and a lot more! So I would say it's more than fair trade and a win-win for the music world.

AC/DC - Back In Black (1980)

(•)> AC / DC 's most highly praised and most  kick ass release replaces late Bon Scott for Bryan Johnson's edgy performances reviving from the ashes everyone's favorite Australian hard rock group!

The Cure - Seventeen Seconds (1980)

(•)> On their sophomore The Cure follow a more instrumental direction burrying their tunes in a somber gothic mood. "Seventeen Seconds" manages to have a great highlight in "The Forest", but overall it's a so - so introspective journey.
