I’m really into the strange contrast at the heart of “love_em_brainless.” The surreal ocean imagery and dark humor make the grief hit even harder. I particularly like the decision to keep the production intimate and acoustic, because it puts the vocals and storytelling right in front of me. There’s something wonderfully uncomfortable about the track. It managaes to be absurd and genuinely devastating!
